The term ‘ultrasound’ refers to a type of imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of areas that are invisible to the human eye. 

An ultrasound has several unique properties. It is an oscillating sound wave with a frequency that is beyond the upper limit of the human hearing range, i.e. it is not audible to the human ear.
